How much does repatriation from the UK cost?
Real numbers, not “price on request”. Below you will find what drives the cost, an honest road-versus-air comparison, and an instant estimate for the route we operate most — all before you have to speak to anyone.
The short answer
A complete road repatriation from the UK to Romania costs between €2,800 and €4,200 (≈ £2,400–£3,600), all-inclusive — collection anywhere in the UK, every document in both countries, a regulation coffin and door-to-door transport. That is our published, verified range; where you sit inside it depends on the collection city and the destination.
For other European routes the same logic applies — the price depends on distance and destination — and you receive a fixed, final quote on the first phone call, free and without obligation. The number we give you is the number you pay: no fuel surcharges, no “administrative extras”, no surprises at handover.
Road or air — the honest comparison
Both are dignified and legal. The difference is cost, flexibility and what happens at each end of the journey.
| Road (our own fleet) | Air freight | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical cost | One fixed price, door to door — usually the significantly cheaper option | Airline freight fees plus airport handling at both ends, plus transport to and from each airport |
| Coffin requirements | Regulation sealed coffin for international transport (included) | Airlines additionally require a zinc-lined, hermetically sealed coffin |
| Journey | Continuous, tracked, with confirmations at departure, border and arrival | Depends on flight schedules and cargo space availability |
| Delivery | To the family home, church or local funeral director — any address | To the destination airport; onward transport arranged separately |
Why we can keep road prices low: the fleet is ours. No subcontractors, no middlemen adding a margin — the vehicle that collects your loved one in the UK is the same one that arrives at the family's door.
What drives the price up or down
- Collection point in the UK — a collection in Kent sits closer to the route home than one in the Scottish Highlands.
- Destination — the further past the border, the longer the final leg.
- Official and consular fees — these vary by destination country and are included in our quote.
- Additional services — embalming where required, a higher-grade coffin, church arrangements or flowers at home.

What “all-inclusive” actually includes
- Collection from any hospital, hospice, coroner's facility or funeral home in the UK, 24/7
- Every document and formality, in the UK and in the destination country — including the coroner's “Out of England” permission and the international mortuary passport
- Regulation coffin certified for international transport
- Door-to-door transport in our own licensed fleet, with confirmations along the way
- Direct contact with a named person, in English or Romanian, at any hour
Frequently asked questions about costs
Can the price change after I accept the quote?
No. The quote you receive on the first call is fixed and final. If an official fee turns out lower than estimated, the difference is yours — it is never adjusted upwards.
Is road transport really cheaper than flying?
On European routes, almost always — air freight adds airline fees, mandatory zinc-lined coffins and airport handling at both ends, plus transport to and from each airport. With our own fleet, road repatriation is one continuous, fixed-price journey door to door.
Does the NHS, the state or insurance cover repatriation?
The UK state does not pay for repatriation. If the person had travel insurance, a life policy or an employer scheme, repatriation may be covered — check the policy documents, and we can liaise with the insurer directly. We also work with families paying privately, which is the most common situation.
Do you require payment before the journey?
Terms are agreed clearly on the first call, before anything is signed — and they never change mid-journey. Call us and we will explain exactly how it works for your route.
You are not alone in this.
One phone call and we take over everything: the paperwork, the formalities, the journey. A fixed price, agreed from the start.
